是中國(guó)四大博物館之一，位于人民大道201號(hào)，北隔人民大道與人民大廈遙相呼應(yīng)。于1996年10月12日全部建成開放。建筑高度29.5米，地上5層，地下2層。館藏珍貴文物12萬(wàn)件， 21個(gè)門類，其中猶以青銅器、陶瓷器、書法、繪畫為特色。建筑造型是方體基座與圓形出挑相結(jié)合，具有中國(guó)古代天圓地方的寓意。方，象征著四面八方，圓，著意文化淵源之循環(huán)，拱門又表達(dá)開放。整個(gè)建筑的外觀造型具有漢代的建筑風(fēng)格，從遠(yuǎn)處眺望似一個(gè)古代的鼎；從高處俯視，它的形狀如同一個(gè)碩大的漢代銅鏡。南門兩側(cè)八尊漢白玉雕塑的漢唐石獅、辟邪、天祿，守護(hù)著上海博物館珍藏的無(wú)價(jià)的文化瑰（gui）寶。上海博物館的展室分布是，一樓設(shè)有中國(guó)古代青銅館，第一展廳面積達(dá)1000平方米，能適應(yīng)各種不同陳列展覽需求的綜合性展覽廳（xxxx年西藏文物展）。二樓主要是中國(guó)古代陶瓷館；第二展廳主要用于與海外博物館和文物收藏機(jī)構(gòu)進(jìn)行交流而舉辦的珍貴文物、藝術(shù)品展覽等（xxxx年與墨西哥聯(lián)合舉辦瑪雅文物展），三樓有中國(guó)歷代繪畫館、中國(guó)歷代書法館和中國(guó)歷代璽印館；四樓分布的是中國(guó)古代玉器館、中國(guó)明清家具館、中國(guó)少數(shù)民族工藝館、中國(guó)歷代錢幣館和主要用于西方現(xiàn)代藝術(shù)展覽的第三展覽廳。
上海大劇院
位于人民大道300號(hào)，是目前中國(guó)最高級(jí)的劇院，總高度40米。地下2層，地面6層，頂部2層，共10層。大劇院敞向蒼穹的半月形且向上反翹的巨型大屋頂，像吉祥納福的“聚寶盆”，承接著來(lái)自宇宙和人類的恩澤，更象征著泱泱中華/禮儀之邦的文明古國(guó)海納百川的寬廣胸懷，煥發(fā)著改革開放的上海擁抱藍(lán)天/喜迎四海賓朋的無(wú)限激情。上海大劇院的設(shè)計(jì)方案通過(guò)向國(guó)內(nèi)外招標(biāo)，經(jīng)過(guò)反復(fù)論證、比較，最后由專家投票選定法國(guó)夏邦杰建筑設(shè)計(jì)師的設(shè)計(jì)方案。該方案以“一個(gè)敞開的宮殿，它是風(fēng)景的延續(xù)”為構(gòu)思，以漢字“藝”的形象為建筑造型。大劇場(chǎng)擁有目前國(guó)際舞臺(tái)容納面積最大、動(dòng)作變換性最多的舞臺(tái)設(shè)備。1998年7月28日，上海大劇院舉行試演出。如今大劇院已經(jīng)成為上海經(jīng)濟(jì)實(shí)力、科技水平、文化精粹和上海人民精神風(fēng)貌的象征。
上海城市規(guī)劃展示館
位于人民大道100號(hào)，人民大廈東側(cè)，是人民廣場(chǎng)景區(qū)最新的一處建筑游覽景點(diǎn)，它與上海大劇院形成人民大廈東西兩翼對(duì)稱建筑，又與博物館相互襯托，各顯風(fēng)采，構(gòu)成三足鼎立之勢(shì)。展示館1999年9月竣工，2000年1月完成布展，2000年2月對(duì)外營(yíng)業(yè)，它的落成給人民廣場(chǎng)的規(guī)劃劃上了一個(gè)圓滿的句號(hào)。上海城市規(guī)劃館建筑高度為43.3米，地下2層，地面5層，共有5個(gè)展廳，28個(gè)展區(qū)。遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)看去，展示館大樓像是中國(guó)傳統(tǒng)的高大城樓中間的“城門”，暗寓建筑與城市存在著內(nèi)在聯(lián)系。頂部由四片碩大的連體薄殼藝術(shù)造型組成，猶如四朵正在盛開的白玉蘭，白玉蘭是上海市市花，象征著上海充滿朝氣和活力；四朵白玉蘭連成網(wǎng)架，突出城市規(guī)劃中“網(wǎng)格”的要素和作用。上海城市規(guī)劃展示館市目前世界上最大的城市規(guī)劃展示館，展示館的主題是“城市 人 環(huán)境 發(fā)展”，進(jìn)入展示館第一層首先看到的是以輝煌為基調(diào)的序廳，序廳的主題是歷史的豐碑；第二層是規(guī)劃建設(shè)成就廳，向人們展示的是上海的今天；三層和四層分別是總體規(guī)劃一廳和總體規(guī)劃二廳；五層是影視廳。地下一層是“上海1930年風(fēng)情街”。
