人民大道
位于上海市中心，是人民廣場中部的一條東西向大道，將人民廣場分成南北兩半。它東起西藏中路福州路口，西至黃陂北路近威海路口，全長570米左右。大道中間有一條金屬隔離欄桿，往兩側(cè)依次為三車道（雙向共六車道）汽車道路、綠化帶、自行車道路、行道樹、和人行道路。國慶一周年和國慶十周年都在人民大道和人民廣場舉行；1981年8月1日，中國人民解放軍建軍54周年之際，駐滬三軍在人民廣場舉行盛大閱兵式。對(duì)于上海市民來說，人民大道的功能，更在于它在社會(huì)政治活動(dòng)中所起的獨(dú)特而不可替代的作用，這就如同長安街和天安門廣場在北京人心目中一樣，受到人們的關(guān)注和青睞。20世紀(jì)80年代后期起，人民廣場和人民大道不再舉行大規(guī)模游行、集會(huì)。90年代，市政府對(duì)人民廣場進(jìn)行大規(guī)模規(guī)劃改造時(shí)，人民大道的地面道路、路燈、綠化帶、行道樹等也作了相應(yīng)的改造和調(diào)整?，F(xiàn)在，大道中間是雙向六車道的汽車道路，兩邊緊挨的是南北兩條綠化帶。綠化帶中，最低層種植的是高約0.5米的小葉黃楊；中層是6米來高的香樟樹，其中南綠化帶52棵，北綠化帶43棵（編號(hào)53至95）；香樟樹上方，是10米多高的照明燈柱。綠化帶外邊是自行車道，其外側(cè)是南北各一排行道樹，載種的全是我國特有的樹種銀杏，其中南側(cè)41棵、北側(cè)35棵。500多米長的人民大道，白天車水馬龍，一片繁花；入夜之后，銀光四射，晶瑩亮麗，與周圍的建筑和燈光一起組成令人矚目和向往的優(yōu)美風(fēng)景。
音樂旱噴泉
位于人民大道以南，圓形噴水池面積1000余平方米，其中心有水的部分為320多平方米，這是一種國內(nèi)首創(chuàng)的大型旱噴泉，造型為三層九級(jí)下沉式，池中央凸現(xiàn)著上海的版圖，駐足池邊，黃浦江、崇明島等歷歷在目，上海的的地理位置一目了然。水池內(nèi)有外、中、內(nèi)、三個(gè)圈層的水管，隨著音樂的高地起伏，它們向水池中心噴出高度分別為5米、10米和20米的數(shù)百根水柱。音樂旱噴泉的四角是4個(gè)傳統(tǒng)造型花缽，花缽的頂部可種植花草，稍下是燈光和音響，具有聲柱、燈柱、花缽三位一體的功能，巧妙地解決了廣場不設(shè)燈塔卻能取得良好照明和音響效果的問題，成為廣場內(nèi)四座優(yōu)美、典雅的裝飾物。旱噴泉的另一個(gè)大的優(yōu)點(diǎn)是噴水時(shí)，小孩可在水柱間穿梭；噴泉關(guān)閉后，游人可進(jìn)入旱池游覽、散步；避免了常見的水池噴泉占有大片面積以及池水臟臭、吸附垃圾等弊端，噴泉的配電房和管理房全部進(jìn)入地下，保證了廣場的整潔、美觀，充分發(fā)揮了廣場的游覽、觀光、休憩功能。順便說句，每月的14和15兩日是看不到噴泉的，這兩天管理人員要對(duì)噴泉進(jìn)行清洗和保養(yǎng)。（六幅藝術(shù)浮雕是重點(diǎn) 待查）

它給莊重、典雅的人民廣場帶來了更多的動(dòng)態(tài)美，構(gòu)成了動(dòng)靜結(jié)合的壯景。1995年2月，人民廣場改建工程正在進(jìn)行，兩位人大代表在市人大會(huì)議上提出了創(chuàng)造條件讓鴿子在新人民廣場自由飛翔的建議，幾乎與此同時(shí)，有一位市民給市政府寫了呼吁信，說，上海作為國際大都市，若能放養(yǎng)和平鴿，更能為廣場增添安定祥和的氣息，并希望和平鴿能在46周年國慶之際與市民見面。是領(lǐng)導(dǎo)兩天后即給予答復(fù)，肯定了這一建議。廣場鴿是經(jīng)過精心培育而成的，它具有一定的飛向能力和較強(qiáng)抗病能力，好近人，善低飛，喜漫步，體形優(yōu)美，觀賞價(jià)值高?，F(xiàn)在，廣場鴿由齊愛莊園有限公司管理，所以叫齊愛廣場鴿。
上海博物館

上海城市規(guī)劃展示館
位于人民大道100號(hào)，人民大廈東側(cè)，是人民廣場景區(qū)最新的一處建筑游覽景點(diǎn)，它與上海大劇院形成人民大廈東西兩翼對(duì)稱建筑，又與博物館相互襯托，各顯風(fēng)采，構(gòu)成三足鼎立之勢(shì)。展示館1999年9月竣工，2000年1月完成布展，2000年2月對(duì)外營業(yè)，它的落成給人民廣場的規(guī)劃劃上了一個(gè)圓滿的句號(hào)。上海城市規(guī)劃館建筑高度為43.3米，地下2層，地面5層，共有5個(gè)展廳，28個(gè)展區(qū)。遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)看去，展示館大樓像是中國傳統(tǒng)的高大城樓中間的“城門”，暗寓建筑與城市存在著內(nèi)在聯(lián)系。頂部由四片碩大的連體薄殼藝術(shù)造型組成，猶如四朵正在盛開的白玉蘭，白玉蘭是上海市市花，象征著上海充滿朝氣和活力；四朵白玉蘭連成網(wǎng)架，突出城市規(guī)劃中“網(wǎng)格”的要素和作用。上海城市規(guī)劃展示館市目前世界上最大的城市規(guī)劃展示館，展示館的主題是“城市 人 環(huán)境 發(fā)展”，進(jìn)入展示館第一層首先看到的是以輝煌為基調(diào)的序廳，序廳的主題是歷史的豐碑；第二層是規(guī)劃建設(shè)成就廳，向人們展示的是上海的今天；三層和四層分別是總體規(guī)劃一廳和總體規(guī)劃二廳；五層是影視廳。地下一層是“上海1930年風(fēng)情街”。
